Paphos International Airport (PFO) is the second airport of Cyprus, on the coast at Timi about 15 km south-east of Paphos harbour. Hermes Airports opened the present terminal in 2008, and the airport now handles around three million passengers a year, most of them British: Paphos is the UK’s favourite corner of the island, and Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet and TUI shape the schedule.

It is a compact, single-hall airport: arrivals and departures share the ground floor, the car park is across the forecourt and the bus and shuttle stops are outside the doors. Cyprus drives on the left, which is the first thing to remember on the way out.

Transport

Paphos harbour is 15 km away: about €35 by taxi or €2 on the hourly 612 bus. Coral Bay is around €45 by taxi, Limassol has a shuttle coach for about €10, and pre-booked transfers suit families and late arrivals.

Parking

One open-air car park faces the terminal, from about €3 an hour or €10 a day, with online rates for longer stays. Private car parks in Timi village undercut it for a fortnight and shuttle you to the door.

Car rental

The rental desks are in the terminal with the cars a short walk away. Paphos district is spread out, from the Akamas beaches to the Troodos villages, so most visitors keep a car for the stay. Cyprus drives on the left and the motorway to Limassol is toll-free.

Local tips

The 612 bus is hourly and finishes mid-evening. If your flight lands after 20:00, plan on a taxi or a pre-booked transfer rather than waiting at the stop.

Cyprus drives on the left. The airport road is quiet and straight; use it to settle in before the first roundabout at the B6 junction.

Aphrodite’s Rock is 15 minutes east of the airport on the old coast road, closer than any hotel. A late-afternoon arrival can see the sunset there before checking in.

The terminal is one hall with few seats airside. Two hours before departure is enough outside the summer evening wave; three is excessive and you will stand.

Many UK routes pause or thin out from November to March. If you are booking a winter return, check the airline still flies the route on your date before assuming a daily service.
